Grand theft

Feb. 23, 3:42 p.m., 601 Rancho Shopping Center: 2001 Lexus with keys left in car, stolen from parking lot.

Feb. 25, 9:34 a.m., 1008 Dartmouth Lane: vehicle stolen overnight.

Fraud

Feb. 22, 8:35 a.m., 182 N. Gordon Way: attempted Internet fraud using stolen identification.

Feb. 24, 5:25 a.m., 388 S. El Monte Ave.: general fraud.

Feb. 22: search warrant on house in San Jose, issued relative to Feb. 16 theft at 1000 block Crooked Creek Lane, netted stolen $2,000 plasma TV, counterfeit money and indications of drug use. Investigation continuing.

Burglary

Feb. 22, 7:30 p.m., 2164 Via Escalera: residential burglary, no forced entry.

Lost & found

Feb. 25 & Feb. 27, 2700 El Camino Real: arrests recovering stolen credit cards and checks.

Vandalism

Feb. 22, 1:16 p.m., 1575 Holt Ave.: general vandalism.

Feb. 23, 4:36 p.m., 1924 Churton Ave.: two men apparently posing as Water District employees attempted to get private information.

Driving violations

Feb 22, 3:56 p.m., Foothill Expressway and I-280: unlicensed driver, car towed.

Feb. 23, 1:20 a.m., El Camino Real and Distel Drive: suspended license.

Feb. 23, 4:31 p.m., S. Springer Road and Berry Avenue: unlicensed driver.

Feb. 23, 11:48 p.m., El Camino Real and Clark Avenue: unlicensed driver.

Feb. 25, 6:16 p.m., El Camino Real and Showers Drive: unlicensed driver.

Feb. 25, 1:52 p.m., Alvarado Avenue and Vera Cruz Avenue: suspended license.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
