Bob Madgic will talk on his book at the Los Altos main library.

The Los Altos main library is sponsoring a series of environmental and nature programs March through May. All events are in the program room at the library, 13 S. San Antonio Road. For more information, call 948-7683 or visit www.santaclaracountylib.org/losaltos.

• March 8, 7:30 p.m. Join local photographers Jan and Stoney Edwards as they present a selection of their award-winning nature photography. The Edwardses, the subjects of last week’s Town Crier cover story, have traveled the world and the United States in pursuit of their craft.

• March 15, 7:30 p.m. Wildlife Rescue Inc. of Palo Alto will discuss local wildlife, how to live peaceably with animals, what to do if you find an injured or orphaned wild animal and how to prevent wild animals from being injured or orphaned. Join one of their volunteers, accompanied by a few of their animal educators. Ages 14 and older.

• March 29, 3:30 p.m. Wildlife Rescue Inc. will present a special program for children ages 13 and younger.

• April 25, 7:30 p.m. Former Los Altos High School principal Bob Madgic will host a PowerPoint presentation of his book, “Shattered Air: A True Account of Catastrophe and Courage on Yosemite’s Half Dome,” the story of hikers who embarked on a trip up the Half Dome trail in July 1985. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

• May 3, 7:30 p.m. Skyhunters Environmental Education will present “Hunters of the Sky: Raptor Biology,” a glimpse into birds’ lives with an overview of how they exist in the wild and why they are important. The program will include live birds of prey. Ages 14 and older.

• May 10, 3:30 p.m. Skyhunters Environmental Education will present a special program for children on “Hunters of the Sky.” Ages 13 and younger.
