Health chats are every month at the Los Altos Senior Center, 97 Hillview Ave., and from 10 a.m. to noon on the first and third Fridays at Los Altos United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave. They are free and open to the public.

The next event at the senior center is “Driving Considerations,” scheduled for 10 a.m., March 14.

Senior New Ways, an interfaith organization working with older adults and their families, is offering a number of other discussions and groups. They are all free and meet at the churc

Memoir writing: 1:30-3 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month in the church Live Oak Room. Call Jinny Newberry at 948-5808 for more information.

Adult Children/Caregivers of Aging Persons: 7:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the Live Oak Room.

Women’s Writing Group: Generally meets 7:30-9 p.m. the first Monday of the month. The next session is Monday in the Live Oak Room. For more information, call 209-1119.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
