Eighth-grade language students at Blach Intermediate School celebrated an early Mardi Gras and Carnivale Feb. 16 with skits, a feast and dancing.
The French and Spanish students prepared for more than a month to write and rehearse skits in their target language.
Performances ranged from classics such as the “Wizard of Oz” and “Cinderella” to contemporary works mimicking “American Idol” and “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” and also included original works. Lunch courtesy of the Blach PTA featured French and Spanish dishes such as quiche, taquitos and cream puffs.
The annual event concluded with a salsa dance lesson.
