Bullis Charter School has a ‘Dream’
The Athens Middle School dance is approaching, and the students are anxious to find someone to go with. Lysander likes Hermia, and Hermia likes him. Helena likes Demetrius, and Demetrius used to like Helena but now likes Hermia. Oberon hears about this and tells Puck to use a magic potion to make Demetrius like Helena. Complications arise when Puck accidentally uses the potion on Lysander. Meanwhile, the theater club has 24 hours before the curtain goes up on their tedious and brief tragicomedy.
Based on “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Bullis Charter School’s “A Middle School Night’s Dream” gives Shakespeare’s timeless dialogue and plot a 1980s makeover. Katia Nazarian, the school’s drama and dance teacher, wrote the adaptation and directs the production, which stars fifth- and sixth-graders.
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 11, 12 and 14 in the school’s multipurpose room. Tickets cost $7 in advance, $8 at the door, and can be purchased by calling the school at 947-4939.
The school is located on the Egan Junior High School campus, 100 W. Portola Ave., Los Altos.
