Women in Technology International (WITI) has named Los Altos resident Neerja Raman, director of Hewlett-Packard’s Imaging Systems Lab, a member of the WITI Hall of Fame.
WITI, a global organization dedicated to advancing women in technology careers, established the Hall of Fame in 1996 to recognize outstanding women for their research contributions and achievements in science and technology. As professional women in the technology industry, award recipients are on the cutting edge of innovation in their respective fields and are committed to mentoring women and girls in order to promote careers in technology.
“I am honored to be a part of such an outstanding group of women who are avid pursuers of science and technology and who are also passionate about furthering the career of women in advanced technology fields,” Raman said.
Raman began her career as a scientist more than 35 years ago and was among the first women in technology in the Silicon Valley. Throughout her 20 years at HP, Raman has made significant contributions to the advancement of science, leading her team in creating the strategic vision and technology for the company’s imaging and printing products and services.
Raman serves as an advisory board member of Maitri, an organization dedicated to helping women who are victims of abuse and assisting them in entering the work force. Raman is also a member of Indian Business & Professional Women.
“This year’s diverse group of Hall of Fame inductees are some of the best and the brightest professionals in the technology sector,” said Carolyn Leighton, chief executive officer, chairwoman and founder of WITI.
“Their induction not only honors their individual achievements, but sets a stellar example for other women to follow. They are now a part of a select group of women who WITI has been honoring during the past 10 years for their exemplary examples and contributions,” Leighton said.
