Why the Neutra move?
John Burr
Can somebody explain why the Neutra house that was moved on to the Hillview site is a good idea?
Other than being designed by an architect with some social concepts, that house presents nothing architecturally significant.
Every time I drive by it I think this must be the “before” picture. It’s a box with windows and a flat roof. Besides taking space from the preschool, it’s oriented so the back of the house faces the street. It doesn’t blend with the neighborhood and it would seem to lower property values if a private citizen were to build on their site. Compare the DeMartini house to the Nuetra house.
How about giving it back?
Dick Baker
I read that the city council is considering what to do with the money from the sale of the sewage treatment plant.
Before they dash out and hire a consultant for $500,000 and have 300 of the city staff make PowerPoint presentations to dazzle me with their wisdom, I have a suggestion. Give it back to the people you took it from. Me first.
Appreciated article on new pastor

Thank you for your thoughtful article about Father Larry Percell, our pastor at St. Nicholas Church.
Writer Joanne Domingue captured so well Father Larry’s unique background and his insightful and understanding presence.
For many years, St. Nicholas has been blessed with exceptional guidance from Father Gary Thomas, himself a generous and inspiring leader.
Father Larry provides his own form of leadership, with humor, kindness, understanding and the unique view of one who has experienced the challenges of a married life.
An easy fix to traffic problem
Jeane Kluga
I’ve been wanting to write for some time regarding the traffic problems on El Camino from San Antonio.
One “easy” thing to fix (I think) is to eliminate the Circus Floors truck that is constantly parked just before Distel Drive on the El Camino (the Walther’s Linoleum store). I had asked them last year if they would park their truck farther back so traffic could turn right on the red light, and also to make it safer for cars turning right FROM Distel Drive to El Camino. Obviously they have not done that.
The simple solution I suggest is to paint that part of the curbing RED. A driveway exits directly behind their building, and I do think that would be an obvious demarcation. There is plenty of parking by their store entrance and the other side for customers and their trucks.
This could be done almost immediately and would be a great safety feature.
Sorry for the omission

The Festival of Lights Parade Association regrets that OPES Advisor Susan McHan, president and Los Altos resident, was omitted from the thank-you list of band sponsors in the Town Crier last week.
OPES sponsored the Fremont High School band, for which we thank them.
We are very grateful for their support of the parade.
