AILEEN MORRISON
Aileen Morrison, 94, comfortably passed away in the Pilgrim Haven Nursing Center in Los Altos on November 22, 2005, with her two devoted children at her side. Aileen was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Indiana University in 1932 and worked as a professional social worker during the depression era.
In 1934, she married Gilbert Morrison who predeceased her in 1999. During their 64 year marriage, they resided in 27 homes across America due to Gil’s corporate career. She became a master at carving out a new life for her family, the center of her world.
Aileen’s life was framed by energetic volunteerism at numerous charitable organizations across the USA. She has been a resident of Los Altos over 30 years and has been actively affiliated with many groups including: Alpha Chi Omega, American Association of University Women, College Club, Senior Coordinating Council, Friends of the Library, RSVP, Republican Women, Los Altos Historical Museum, English Language Programs and an active member of the Los Altos United Methodist Church.
In 1984, Aileen received the Los Altos City Volunteer Award. In 1993, Aileen and Gil were the first couple to receive the Los Altos Board of Realtors Community Service Award as Outstanding Volunteers of the year.
Aileen’s remarkable legacy of enriching the lives of others and her desire to make a difference and enjoy life will carry on through her family. She was a unique and loving lady.
Survivors include: daughter, Terry Morrison of Los Altos, son, Todd Morrison and wife Carol of Portland, Oregon, four Grandchildren: James and wife Stephanie of Toronto, Canada, Michelle and husband Marcus, of Charlotte, NC, Brian of Scotts Valley, CA and Lisa of Chapel Hill, NC and fourGreat-Grandchildren, Skylar, Mason, Sean and Brennan; two sisters, Nelle and Helen of Carson, CA.
Aileen’s family is grateful for the loving care and attention she received at Pilgrim Haven. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Friends of the Los Altos Library, 13 S. A celebration of her life is planned for Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 2:00PM, at her church.
