The Foothill College Intercollegiate Dance Program kicks off its 20th season fund-raising efforts with “The Homecoming,” a celebration of its new dance facility.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today and Thursday in Smithwick Theatre at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills.
At 2,800-square feet, Foothill’s new dance studio facility features a sprung floor system, state-of-the-art sound system, mirrors and barres. Foothill dance instructor Bubba Gong said, “For our dancers, the dance studio is a second home, and with the renovation of our dance facility, coming home has never been sweeter.”
Under Gong’s direction, “The Homecoming” showcases 12 new works and begins the choreographic initiative project at Foothill for his 20th season. The production will feature nearly 100 dancers and specialty performers.
The program includes dance numbers from around the world, including Brazilian Samba, the Chung Ngai Dance Company and Reggatone mixed with American favorites from tap and jazz to hip-hop.
In addition, prima ballerina Haleigh McConnell debuts a pointe solo and Erin McKevitt debuts a modern dance with spoken word.
Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 students and children and $100 reserved patron.
