Cara Dow and Samuel Ambler Felton Williams

Cara Dow and Samuel Ambler Felton Williams were married on Sept. 30 at Chaminade Resort in Santa Cruz.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Douglas N. Dow and Carla Baltrusch Dow of Eugene, Ore.

She is a graduate of Stanford University, with a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics.

She is employed as an associate at Black Rock Financial Management and currently a student at the University of California at Berkeley working towards her master’s degree in business administration.

The groom is the son of Dr and Mrs Roger Melen of Los Altos Hills and Mr and Mrs Samuel M. F. Williams of Tucson, Ariz.

He is a graduate of Gunn High School, and received a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in human biology.

He is completing his doctorate in molecular biology at Gladstone Institute, University of California at San Francisco.

The couple will reside in San Francisco.

Janet Ryan and Bradley Pelletier

Janet Ryan and Bradley Pelletier have announced their engagement to be married April 30 in San Diego.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Debbie and Gerald Ryan of Mountain View.

She graduated from Mountain View High School and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from San Diego State University.

She is employed as a reporter for a newspaper in San Marcos.

The groom-to-be is the son of Henry and Jane Pelletier of Massena, N.Y. He graduated from Massena High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix.

He is employed as an engineer with the U.S. Navy.

The couple live in San Marcos.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
