Bio: Incumbent; professor of political science at Evergreen Valley College; first elected to the Foothill-De Anza Community College Board of Trustees in 1993, served as president; serve on the board of several non-profit organizations, third generation local family flower business owner.
Priorities: Meet the changing needs of our diverse 40,000-student population; continue to develop and support the most highly qualified faculty, staff, and administrators; budget responsibly and ensure accountability.
Laura Casas Frier
Bio: Community volunteer; doctorate in law, University of Santa Clara, School of Law ‘82; bachelor’s degree in political science, CSU Northridge ‘78; Foothill-De Anza Foundation Board Member; Foothill-De Anza Legislative Committee; Community Representative, Director of Legislation, Santa Clara County PTA.
Priorities: Fiscal responsibility; increase student technology, support services and courses needed for transfer to four-year colleges; work toward a long-term plan to pay Foothill-De Anza’s obligatory retirement benefits.
Julia E. Miller
Bio: Cupertino High School and De Anza College graduate; councilmember, former mayor and vice mayor of Sunnyvale; Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board Member; ABAG Executive Board member; chairwoman; Air District Budget and Finance Committee; Lockheed Martin employee for 34 years,
Priorities:
Increase and equalize the funding for Foothill De Anza District; provide oversight and accountability; retain and hire excellent and diverse faculty and employees.

Bio: Retired college professor; doctorate from UC Berkeley; community college education; bachelor’s degree in science from Stanford University; professor of mathematics, Foothill College, 20 years; vice president, finance, Foothill College, 6 years; dean, Physical Science Mathematics Division, Foothill College, 5 years; member, Foothill College (fund raising) Development Commission, 6 years.
Priorities: Provide outstanding educational programs to promote student success; ensure fiscal integrity, including maintenance, upgrading and repair of our physical facilities; hire, promote and retain excellent, diverse faculty, staff, managers and administrators.
