Floy Zittin’s work will be displayed Oct. 31 to Nov. 25.

Local artist Floy Zittin is exhibiting a collection of her watercolors, “Walking Dreams - Musings on Shoreline and Rancho San Antonio,” Oct. 31 to Nov. 25 at Viewpoints Gallery in Los Altos.

Zittin has painted landscapes and wildlife studies of the two local preserves for many years, and in this show she distills the essence of her impressions of these parks working only from memory. The resulting paintings, while representing points along a trail, are filled with whimsy and celebrate the experience of hiking in the parks.

A watercolor instructor, Zittin has taught through the Mountain View-Los Altos High School Adult Education program at the Hillview Senior Center for ten years. She has also participated in the Los Altos Rotary Fine Art in the Park shows since 1997.

“My educational background is in biology,” Zittin said. “I enjoy combining detail and representation of a subject with the unpredictability of the watercolor medium. Ultimately, I hope my paintings will bring attention to our local wildlife and increase appreciation of our remaining open spaces.”

Viewpoints Gallery is located at 315 State St., Los Altos. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
