Tax and Business Services joins RSM McGladrey

Local accounting firm American Express Tax and Business Services, founded in 1977 as Young, Craig & Company, has moved up the business food chain yet again, merging with RSM McGladrey this month.

Managing director Dennis Young, a businessman active in local civic and volunteer groups, said that clients won’t see changes in their day-to-day services from the company.

Merging with McGladrey offered two appealing new dimensions to the company, Young said. The billion-dollar national accounting firm is known for its extensive library of research materials and resident experts, and for its in-house continuing professional education programs.

“We’re going to be more focused, part of an accounting organization rather than a credit and travel company,” Young said. He hopes that as McGladrey’s only Northern California office, Tax and Business Services will be infused with resources to help it grow.

McGladrey is unique for its focus on mid-size, closely held businesses, a demographic that Tax and Business Services has traditionally served.
