Donald and Virginia Holt

Donald and Virginia Holt of Los Altos celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 23 at a dinner party hosted by their three children, daughter Donna-Lee and husband Bob Hendee of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and sons, Ron Holt and wife Ellen of Vancouver, Wash.; and Don Holt of Los Altos.

The family party included their seven grandchildren: Dennis Gafvert and wife Patty of Napa; Kelly Dombrowski and husband Jay from Chicago; Tracy Courtney and husband Rob from Colorado; Jessica Pick and husband Phil from Colorado; Mike Holt and wife Shelly from Washington; Jeff Holt from Washington; and Lauren Hendee from Colorado.

Eight great-grandchildren also attended: Samantha and Megan Gafvert; Nick and Danelle Dombrowski; Tyler Courtney; Alexus and Trinity Pick; and Madison Holt.

The anniversary party was held in the garden of the family home on Grant Road.

Donald Holt’s grandfather, G. Holt, built their Los Altos home in 1913, and the couple married there in 1954.

Donald Holt worked for the Mountain View Post Office for 34 years as a mail carrier until his retirement in 1974.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
