Vitina Mandella and Mark Grimsrod

Vitina Mandella and Mark Grimsrod were married Aug. 6 at Black Rock, Kaanapali Beach in Maui. Their reception was held at the Hula Grill.

The bride is the daughter of Victor and Loyce Mandella of Los Altos Hills. She graduated from Gunn High School and received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from San Jose State University. She is employed at BKF Engineers as a design engineer.

The groom is the son of Sandy and Paul Grimsrod of Palo Alto. He graduated from Gunn High School and received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from San Jose State University. He is employed at WM Finance as a financial associate.

The couple honeymooned at the Hotel Hana in Maui, and plan to live in Santa Clara. They both attended Parents Nursery School in Palo Alto 1983-84.

Jessica Pearson and Paul Murphy III

Jessica Pearson and Paul Murphy III have announced their engagement to be married Oct. 1 at Old Saint Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco. A reception will follow at the World Trade Club.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Stephen Pearson of Watsonville and Karen Winguth of Nevada City.

She was born in Watsonville, but lived in Los Altos during her youth. She is employed at Adobe Systems in San Jose.

The groom-to-be is the son of Marilyn and Paul Murphy II of Boston, Mass. He is a graduate of American University and received his bachelor’s degree in political science. He is employed at ADP, Santa Clara.

The couple will honeymoon in Ireland and reside in Campbell.

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
