Actor Alan Alda to give reading at Books Inc.

Alan Alda, the Emmy Award-winning actor, will read from and sign copies of his memoir, “Never Have Your Dog Stuffed, and Other Things I’ve Learned,” 5 p.m. Sunday at Books Inc., 301 Castro St., Mountain View.

MacArthur Fellow to speak at LA library

Peter H. Gleick, co-founder and president of the Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment and Security, is scheduled to give a talk, “Conflict or Cooperation: What Does the Future Portend?” 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Los Altos main library.
