Linda Gass of Los Altos is exhibiting her new art quilt, “Puzzle Of Salt,” through Oct. 22 at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, Louisville, Ky. Quilt art reflects artistic expressions inspired by the landscape - the contours of the terrain, the effects of light and weather and the imprint of humankind.

Hudson River Valley Art Workshops, under the stewardship of Kim and Mark LaPolla, former Los Altos residents, offers fine art workshops for painters.

In April, they will introduce nine new workshops presented by nationally and internationally known art quilt instructors. Professional instructors have committed for 2007 and 2008.

Nestled in Greenville, N.Y., the Hudson River Valley Art Workshops provide a unique environment.

Participants lodge and dine at the Greenville Arms 1889 Inn, originally built as a private residence by William Vanderbilt.

The timeless beauty of the surrounding Hudson River Valley and Catskill Mountains provides unlimited artistic inspiration.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
