Non-profits plan financial aid seminar

College Track and Admissions Academy, two non-profit organizations in East Palo Alto, have scheduled a financial aid seminar for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Cubberley Community Center Auditorium, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Karla Monterroso, program manager for College Track, will lead an in-depth discussion of the standard components of financial aid for college and the importance of self-advocacy.

De Anza students need host families

Hosts are needed for De Anza College students for three or more months. Students will arrive in late August. Hosts will be paid $750 per month to provide students room, board and TLC.

Families and friends of Oak Elementary School in Los Altos are invited to the “Extreme Makeover: School Edition” celebration of the reopening of the Oak Avenue campus 2-4 p.m. Sunday.
