The city of Los Altos is hosting the fourth annual Community Picnic for Los Altos residents and their guests 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 28, in the City Civic Center located off San Antonio Road and Hillview Avenue.
This event will showcase city services and community organizations, including a variety of family activities (Kid Zone, Teen Zone and Senior Zone), food, live entertainment, classic car show and a Community Service Fair of interactive and informative community booths.
The fair will showcase nonpolitical, noncommercial community organizations that want to provide information about their groups.
In 2004, the event attracted more than 1,000 picnic goers.
It an attempt to increase teen attendance, the picnic committee has added a dodgeball tournament this year, sponsored by the city’s Youth Commission, as well as a “Battle of the Bands.”
Festivities will include music by the traditional Ye Olde Towne Band, an old-fashioned barbecue by Santa Clara County Fire Fighters Local 1165, a display of police and fire vehicles, a bocce ball tournament and free ice cream.
