Robert Grant Cameron of Boy Scout Troop 37 has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

For his Eagle project, he erected four 8-feet-by-8-feet murals at Egan Middle School, painted by previous Egan alumni. He led the efforts of 12 scouts and several adults in more than 130 hours of planning and construction.

Guests attending the installation ceremony on June 6 at the Los Altos Youth Center included Los Altos High School Principal Wynn Satterwhite, Troop 37 past and present officials, District Commissioner Judd Stiff and Rob’s great-grandfather Robert William Cameron, world-renowned aerial photographer .

A proclamation named the day in Robert’s honor.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
