The Skoll Foundation recently named the foundation’s Controller Richard Fahey of Los Altos to the position of chief operating officer.

In his new role, Fahey will lead the foundation’s financial and operations functions.

He is expected to make a significant contribution to the fulfillment of the foundation’s mission - to advance systemic change to benefit communities around the world by investing in, connecting and celebrating social entrepreneurs.

Fahey has more than 20 years experience in financial and operations management with Hewlett-Packard, most recently as finance director for HP Services.

As a research analyst with the Federal Reserve Board, he modeled the relationship between interest rates and inflation expectations.

Fahey has a bachelor’s degree in economics and history from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
