MacArthur Festival set for Aug. 13

The 24th Annual MacArthur Park Fine Wine and Food Festival is slated 12:30-4 p.m. Aug. 13 at MacArthur Park Restaurant, 27 University Ave., Palo Alto. Festival proceeds benefit the Palo Alto Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Visitors can sample wines from more than 60 wineries, indulge in a tasty buffet, bid on wines and other items in a silent auction, and enjoy the music of Sweet Talk and Mostly Celtic.

Also included are chocolate and cheesetastings, and complimentary commemorative photos by Matrix Photography.

Free concerts at Cuesta Park

The city of Mountain View is holding a series of free summer concerts 6:30-8 p.m. at Cuesta Park, Grant Road and Cuesta Drive, and at Civic Center Plaza, 500 Castro St. Performing bands are Rumors Aug. 4 at Cuesta Park; and Yardies Thursday, and Unauthorized Rolling Stones Aug. 11 at Civic Center Plaza.

LAH seeks candidates for fire commissioner

The Los Altos Hills County Fire District has a vacancy for one fire commissioner. Only LAH residents are eligible.

The commission generally meets at 7:30 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month at the fire station at the Foothill College.

Letters of interest may be sent to: Board of Commissioners, Los Altos Hills County Fire District, P.O. Box 1766, Los Altos 94023-1766. Deadline for receipt of letters is Aug. 26. The letters will be presented at the Sept. 20 meeting.

Roadrunners need more help

Roadrunners is an El Camino Hospital-based volunteer group whose members provide transportation for seniors who can no longer drive.

Change to annual MVHS alumni picnic

Organizers of the annual Old Mountain View High School Eagle Alumni Picnic held at Cuesta Park the first Saturday in October have announced a change.

Beginning this year, all alumni classes, instead of selected years, will gather in the large barbecue area with its stationary tables.

It is located at the left rear of the park, off the parking area and next to the volleyball court.

The barbecue area will be laid out in increments by graduation year and include marked sections for teachers, Los Altos and Awalt High School participants.

There will be music and a raffle.The picnic will be held from 10 a.m. to sundown.

Cuesta Park is located at 2204 Grant Road, Mountain View.
