Shapiro, Vandeford

Natasha Bernadett-Shapiro and Aaron Vandeford have announced their engagement to be married in July 2006.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Susan Bernadett-Shapiro and Jerry Shapiro of Los Altos. She graduated from Los Altos High School and received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Willamette University, Ore. She is employed as a research analyst at Molina Healthcare Inc.

The groom-to-be is the son of Mary and Allan Vandeford of Vail, Colo. He graduated from Vail Mountain High School and received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Willamette University. He is an assistant youth coordinator at Vail Recreation District.

The couple plan to live in Colorado or California.

DiPonio, Bongi

Anne DiPonio and Mark Bongi have announced their engagement to be married Sept. 24 at the St. Mary’s College of California Chapel in Moraga.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Guy and Judith DiPonio of San Diego. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and Boston College Law School. Prior to attending law school, she was an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. She is an attorney with Silicon Valley Bank.

The groom-to-be is the son of Thomas and Maureen Bongi of San Rafael. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Santa Clara University. He is an alumnus of St. Mary’s College where he is a member of its Board of Regents. He is employed in manufacturing at Cisco Systems.

After honeymooning in Australia and New Zealand, the couple will reside in Los Altos.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
