Events at Linden Tree

Several musical events are scheduled for 10 a.m. on successive Wednesdays in the courtyard of Linden Tree Children’s Recordings & Books.

Jimbo the Clown entertains today. The musical morning is expected to be as much of a treat for parents as it is for children. Chris Molla will sing original songs for young and old July 6. Grammy-nominated songwriter Gunnar Madsen is scheduled to sing his hits July 13.

Linden Tree has scheduled a nonmusical event as well - a release party for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” to begin at midnight, July 15. (The Los Altos Village Association plans to screen “Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets,” 7 p.m., July 15, on Main Street.)

Customers who have prepaid for orders of the new book can pick up their books and a store coupon worth $9.75 at the party.

Linden Tree is located at 170 State St. in downtown Los Altos. For more information or to order a copy of the new Harry Potter book, call 949-3390.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
