Nathan Auerbach is scheduled to arrive in Los Altos at approximately noon on Friday during his 100-day, 2,200-mile “West Coast Walk,” a Rotary Club fund-raising effort to fight polio.

Using the phrase, “We’re walking because they can’t,” Auerbach is walking from Tijuana, Mexico, to Vancouver, British Columbia.

He is a member of the Rotary Club of Coto De Caza/Rancho Santa Margarita.

During the 100 days, Auerbach will connect with 100 different Rotary Clubs, in order to raise $1 million to meet Rotary’s goal of eradicating polio in this centennial year through its ambitious PolioPlus program.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
