Ilene Michelle Herz and Ray Martin Tumi

Ilene Michelle Herz and Ray Martin Tumi were married Oct. 10, at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills.

Their reception followed at the Palo Alto Hills Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Judy and Richard Herz of Los Altos.

She received a bachelor’s degree in social ecology from UC Irvine and a master’s degree in social work from San Jose State University. She is employed as a medical social worker.

The groom is the son of Lotti and Ray Tumi of Schenectady, N.Y.

He graduated from Union College in New York with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He is employed as a network engineer.

The couple met on a New Zealand adventure tour and plan to live in Las Vegas, Nev.

Patricia Valentine and Robert Wasson

Patricia Valentine and Robert Wasson have announced their engagement to be married Sept. 4 in Shoup Park.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of the late Dorothy and Edward Dobelstein of Bridgeport, Conn. She is a graduate of Central High School and received her certification in radiologic technology from St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She is employed at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colo., as a radiologic technologist.

The groom-to-be is the son of Dae and Edward Wasson of Los Altos Hills. He is a graduate of Los Altos High and received a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach. He is a logistics manager for Dairy Specialists in Evans, Colo.

The couple plan to live in the Northern Colorado Front Range area.

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
