Whether Taylor Scott Anderson found himself in the water, snow or on concrete, the 22-year-old was up for the challenge. Those who knew Mr. Anderson said he was an accomplished athlete who was as agile on a skateboard as in scuba gear.

Soccer, baseball, snowboarding, skateboarding and scuba diving were among his favorite sports.

The Los Altos resident died in Santa Clara Thursday when his vehicle crashed into a telephone pole.

Mr. Anderson grew up in Los Altos, where he attended Loyola Elementary, Blach Junior High and Los Altos High schools. During those years, he was both a Boy Scout and a gifted artist specializing in pen and ink drawings and cartoons.

He had attended Oregon State University.

Most recently, Mr. Anderson had been a student locally and had worked as a sales manager at Subaru.

Mr. Anderson’s enthusiasm for various sports and activities earned him a wide and diverse circle of friends.

By Friday morning, friends had built a shrine of flowers, notes and photos that overflowed at the corner of Monroe Street and Bowers Avenue where the collision occurred.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his mother, Mary Gutheil Anderson of Los Altos; his father, William Scott Anderson III of San Jose; and his siblings, Emilie Anderson of San Francisco and William Hunter Anderson of Los Altos.

Memorial services are scheduled at 4 p.m., Thursday, at the Foothills Congregational Church in Los Altos. Internment is at Alta Mesa Park in Palo Alto.
