Leslie Lambert, a former Los Altos resident, has been honored with a “Ones to Watch” award by CIO Magazine for her work as Vice President, IT Service Management, at Sun Microsystems. She was presented the award in a ceremony May 10 at the CIO Leadership Conference in Cambridge, MA.

“This is a tremendous honor to be recognized by CIO magazine,” Lambert said. “CIO magazine is one of the premier bellwether publications of the IT industry, for both IT and business executives and I am very proud to have been selected, along with a fantastic set of fellow honorees.”

CIO Magazine, published for CIOs (chief information officers) and other information executives, presents the “Ones to Watch” award to rising stars in the information

technology field. Winners are selected for providing leadership, innovation and value to their companies. Lambert was one of 33 IT executives selected from hundreds of candidates around the world.

“Leslie is a catalyst for accelerated change at Sun, overseeing standards, process excellence, disaster recovery and project management for Sun IT,” said Sun Microsystems CIO Bill Vass, in a statement. Vass nominated Lambert and other members of his staff for the award last December. “She essentially sets the rules for all of Sun IT’s activities, encompassing more than $350 million in expenditures each year.”

In addition to the award from CIO Magazine, Lambert was recently honored by the YWCA of Silicon Valley with its annual Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award. Lambert was presented with the TWIN Award Tuesday.

Lambert lived in Los Altos for six years and continues to do community work in the area.
