Register for LASD summer school

Registration for the Los Altos School District’s upper-grade enrichment program is scheduled 8-11 a.m., Saturday, in the multipurpose room at Blach Intermediate School. Registration is open to all residents entering grades 5-7.

The enrichment program will be held 8:35 a.m.-12:35 p.m., June 20 through July 15, at Blach. There will be no classes July 4.

Attention, treasure hunters

The Waldorf School of the Peninsula has scheduled its annual public rummage sale 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, at the school, 11311 Mora Drive, Los Altos. A puppet show will be performed 11-11:30 a.m., Saturday. Tickets cost $5 per person or $10 per family.

Concert planned at MVHS

The Mountain View High School Music Department presents its spring instrumental concert. Take the family and enjoy performances by the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensembles 1 and 2 and String Orchestra, 7 p.m., May 19, in the Spartan Theater, 3535 Truman Ave.

Egan sets 11th Portfolio Day

Egan Junior High School is seeking adult volunteers to participate in its 11th annual Portfolio Day, scheduled June 2. The adults will provide positive feedback and ask pertinent questions in small group sessions with eighth-graders presenting the highlights of their academic achievements of the past two years.

LAHS plans spring concert

The Los Altos High School Instrumental Music Department will present its final concert of the school year 7:30 p.m., Saturday, in the Eagle Theater, 201 Almond Ave. The award-winning wind ensemble, orchestra, symphonic band and jazz ensemble will perform music by Vaughn Williams, Eric Whitacre, Felix Mendelssohn, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and other greats.

Tickets, available at the door, cost $8; $6 for students and seniors.

Stanford discusses gifted options

Stanford University’s Education Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY) has scheduled a presentation on gifted education options 7-8:30 p.m., May 11, 100 Cordura Hall, 210 Panama St., Stanford University.

Experts from Stanford’s Education Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY) will answer questions, share up-to-date information and provide guidance. Topics to be discussed are school programs. after-school programs, summer programs and Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) programs. Speakers will include Ray Ravaglia and Rick Sommer, deputy directors of EPGY; Vicki Kleinman, college counselor and gifted advocate; and Vicki Hobel Schultz, parent liaison and gifted advocate.
