Silicon Valley Open Studios 2005 brings collectors, artists and affordable art together in a relaxed studio setting for three weekends in May.

Most of Los Altos’ many and varied artists will open their studios May 14 and 15. Guides and maps to studio sites are available at the library and in galleries around town.

Two Los Altos-area sites will be open this Saturday and Sunday. Carol Mead, a “plein-air painter,” will be showing work at 1220 Arthur Court in Los Altos. She will also exhibit May 14 and 15.

Also exhibiting this weekend are Adriana Ippati-Torrens, Elisabeth Michel-Meyrueix and Mireille Aulagnier. They will show works at 1568 Country Club Drive. Ippati-Torrens features colorful watercolors inspired by her international travels. Michel-Meyrueix and Aulagnier offer unique custom jewelry.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
