Election results from the Joint Powers Authority’s special election on extending and increasing a parcel tax to benefit Los Altos libraries and the other Santa Clara County branches could not be included in today’s issue due to the Town Crier’s Monday press time. The deadline for accepting ballots was 8 p.m., Tuesday. A full story will follow in next week’s edition.

Voters were casting mail-in ballots on Measures A and B. Measure A would have extended a $33 annual parcel tax set to expire in June. Measure B would have increased that tax by $12 annually.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
