Benita Rice and Kevin Burke

Benita Rice and Kevin Burke have announced their engagement to be married June 10 at the First Lutheran Church in Montclair, N.J. A reception will follow at Bettonwoods Mansion.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Ron and Tiina Rice of Cedar Grove, New Jersey. She graduated from Villanova University and received her doctorate in medicine at New Jersey Medical College. She will be a medical intern at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

The groom-to-be is the son of Brandon and Susan Burke of Los Altos. He graduated from St. Francis High School, received a degree in finance and a master’s degree in information science from Villanova University. He is employed at Dealogic in New York City.

The couple will live in Manhattan.

Miranda Rodoni and Jeremy Marlow

Miranda Rodoni and Jeremy Marlow have announced their engagement to be married Aug. 13 at the Los Altos History Museum.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Carl and Lynn Rodoni of Los Altos. She graduated from UC Davis, receiving bachelor’s degrees in psychology and political science.

She is employed at Avexus, Inc. in sales and marketing.

The groom-to-be is the son of Karen Wall and David Marlow. He is a first class petty officer in the Navy currently teaching satellite communications at the 32nd Street Naval Base in San Diego. He will retire from the Navy next March and begin his civilian career in electronic communications.

The couple will live in San Diego with their dog, Madison.

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
