Author of ‘Trees’ at Linden Tree

Ann Coombs, Los Altos resident and author/photographer of “Trees of Los Altos,” will sign books 2-4 p.m., April 30, at Linden Tree Children’s Recordings & Books, 170 State St., Los Altos.

The book, published last May with the help of the city’s Environmental Committee and the Los Altos Community Foundation, features 138 different trees in its 80 full-color pages.

“Trees of Los Altos” updates the 1970 “Trees of Los Altos” publication, which was published in black-and-white.

“Many examples of the best of our city trees are colorfully featured complete with addresses so the trees may be viewed,” said Jocelyn Orr, a member of the environmental committee. “It would make a valuable Mother’s Day present.”

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
