Los Altos High School students Tessa Ameri of Los Altos and Miranda Friedman of Mountain View participated in the National Young Leaders Conference Feb. 22-27 in Washington, D.C. Tessa and Miranda were selected to attend the conference on demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit.

The theme of the conference was “The Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today.” Tessa and Miranda met with a variety of personnel who operate within the three branches of government, the news media and the international community.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
