Mountain View-based Friends of the Community Health Awareness Council has scheduled its third annual benefit dinner and concert to support CHAC’s continuing mission to provide counseling for local families.
The dinner is scheduled 5:30 p.m., Saturday, at Trader Vic’s, 4261 El Camino Real, Palo Alto.
The Taylor Eigsti Trio concert will follow at 8 p.m. at the Los Altos High School Eagle Theater, 201 Almond Ave.
Drummer Jason Lewis and bassist John Shifflett will accompany the 20-year-old jazz pianist Eigsti, marking the third consecutive year the group has played the CHAC benefit. The Menlo Park native began piano at 4 and made his professional debut at 8 when he opened for jazz pianist David Benoit. He has since received widespread acclaim for his technical proficiency and mature, intuitive style.
Eigsti has appeared on stage with such well-known and respected artists as Dave Brubeck, James Moody, Bobby Hutcherson, Ernestine Anderson, Kevin Mahogany, Bill Watrous and Diane Schuur.
CHAC has provided mental health services for the communities of Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills since 1973. Its programs are designed to protect young people from high-risk behaviors such as alcohol use, illicit drug use, violence and sexual activity, while building personal assets such as school success, valuing diversity, maintaining good health and delayed gratification.
“Taylor’s style of jazz is upbeat and attracts crowds of all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds,” said Joan MacDonald, CHAC board secretary and coordinator of Friends of CHAC.
Admission to the pre-concert dinner and silent auction is $50. Admission to the concert is $30 for adults, $35 at the door, $15 for students at the 7:45 p.m. Student Rush.
