A lunchtime bank robber walked into the Wells Fargo branch located in Albertson’s food store off Grant Road 12:30 p.m., Monday, handed the teller a note and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, Los Altos police said.

She left through the building’s east exit.

Witnesses said the woman had blonde hair pulled back, was about 5 feet, four inches tall and was wearing a denim jacket.

Los Altos police Monday afternoon were searching for witnesses who may have seen a woman fitting that description hanging out in front of Albertson’s between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Cameron Shearer at 947-2818.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
