Eight years ago, a teacher at Homestead High School was arrested for molesting two teenage girls. It’s happened again.

Choir teacher Brett Bartlett, 25, was arrested Feb. 8 for allegedly having a two-month sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.

The relationship was revealed when a group of concerned students approached a teacher, said Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputy Terrance Helm. The school immediately contacted the sheriff’s office.

Bartlett admitted to the relationship. Sheriff’s deputies arrested him on charges of two felonies, oral copulation and unlawful sexual intercourse.

In 1997, varsity football coach and athletic director Jeff Lamson was arrested for molesting two students. A Homestead graduate, Lamson coached the Mustangs for seven years.

The former Washington State University football player was convicted of oral copulation with a person under 18, molestation and sexual penetration with a foreign object.

A Homestead High School spokeswoman told the Town Crier that school officials could not comment or answer questions about the Bartlett case.
