Flamingos flock on command
Looking for a special gift for someone special? Send a flock of pink flamingos to roost in that someone’s front yard.
For $35, “flamingo flockers” - Los Altos High School instrumental music students - will secretly deliver a flock of 30 or so pink flamingo lawn ornaments, along with a custom card and a sign, and collect them 48 hours later.
Proceeds benefit Los Altos High School instrumental music students.

Around the world in 80 laps
That’s the theme of the 2004 walkathon at Oak Elementary School scheduled 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at Camp Cougar, on the Blach Intermediate School campus, 1120 Covington Road.
A disc jockey will play music to keep walkers energized, and food and gourmet coffees will be available for purchase. A portion of the profits from these sales will go to the school.
The walkathon, Oak PTA’s major annual fund-raiser. has a goal of $40,000. The funds will be used to support enrichment programs in the classroom, buy library materials and upgrade computers. The community can sponsor students with a flat fee or a per-lap donation.
