The Los Altos Chamber of Commerce presented its quarterly City Pride Award to the staff of the Los Altos Town Crier last week.
Speaking on behalf of the Community Pride Committee, Ron Labetich explained that the newspaper staff was selected “because the Town Crier has consistently demonstrated its commitment to help build the community week after week.”
Labetich said the Town Crier’s “sponsorship of programs like the annual Holiday Fund and co-sponsoring the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors awards, plus donating thousands of dollars worth of promotion and advertising to non-profits, help make Los Altos what it is today - a wonderful place to live and raise a family.”
Surprised Publisher Paul Nyberg said that it is “the sensitivity and professionalism of our newspaper staff when dealing with the public that make it true community journalism. We are fortunate that five key employees have been with us over the 10 years since we purchased the paper from the Chicago Tribune Company in 1993.”
The City Pride Committee was formed in January 2002 to recognize individuals, properties or organizations that promote pride in Los Altos by example or through community education and information.
This is the fourth quarterly award this year. Previous winners are the Brossards, Dream Homes in Real Estate and Los Altos Sub-Acute & Rehabilitation Center.
