BREUCH, Cecile Elizabeth,

She was born 14 June 1938, in Washington, DC, graduated in 1960 from the University of Georgia, formerly lived and taught in Los Altos, CA, and had lived in Monterey for the last 13 years.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald, three children, Allen Breuch of Truckee, CA, and Aileen Wetzel and Sarah Macchia, both of El Dorado Hills, CA, and six grandchildren. She is also survived by her father, Gilmer Glenn Boggs, of Carlsbad, CA, and her sister, Helen Raulston, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Virginia Boggs in 1984 , and her brother, Maj. Paschal G. Boggs, US Marine Corps, who was missing in North Vietnam. Her brother was honored at that time by the dedication of a living tree and plaque in Shoup Park.

A private celebration of her life will be held by her family and friends.

The family requests that donations in her honor be directed to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), 2221 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 131, El Segundo, CA 90245.

HENNING, Helen Breslin,

Resident of Los Altos for 53 years. Helen graduated from Notre Dame High School in Belmont and received her BS from UC Berkeley. She was an avid early California historian as her roots were from the Gold Rush. Helen participated in the family business. Tom Henning Company, an industrial auction and appraisal firm for the past forty-one years. In addition to raising a family, she taught tennis at Holy Cross High School, traveled extensively throughout the world with Tom, and volunteered with the Knights of Malta in San Francisco and Lourdes. Helen loved people, parties and adventures. With her passing, a huge void has been created. She lost her long battle with cancer. “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” - Motto of the Special Olympics.

A mass was held December 6 in the Chapel of Woodside Priority School, Portola Valley. Donations to Woodside Priority, Fr. Egon Scholarship, 302 Portola Rd. Portola Valley, CA 94028. Arrangements under the direction of the Los Altos Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries, 399 S. San Antonio Road, Los Altos.

FORBES, JOHN W. “Jack”,

DYMOND, Terry,

Mrs. Dymond was born May 10, 1926 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada where her father was a Royal Canadian Mounted policeman. She was the second of three children. The family immigrated to the United States in 1936 and resided in Palo Alto, CA for a number of years.

Mrs. Dymond graduated from Sequoia High School. She married Jack Dymond, Jr. also of Palo Alto, in 1944 and the couple moved to Los Altos in 1949. They had three children and were married until Mr. Dymond’s death in November of 1997.

Terry worked as a telephone operator during WWII and was a homemaker thereafter. She was a volunteer with the El Camino Hospital Auxiliary for 18 years. She loved animals and donated to

numerous animal causes and many Catholic charities. She enjoyed gardening and music and was happiest doing things for others.

Mrs. Dymond is survived by her three children, Karen Jessen, Gary Dymond, Dana Dymond-Rutherford, all of Los Altos; her brother, Lloyd Olmstead of Sunnyvale, sister-in-law Betty Semich of Los Altos Hills; nieces Sharon Kuhlmann, Linda Taylor, and Karri Olmstead of Sunnyvale; nephew Mitchell Kalcic of Mountain View and two god-children Kortney and Jamie Losch of Los Altos, several cousins in Alberta, Canada.

Mrs. Dymond is pre-deceased by her husband Jack Dymond, Jr.; parents, Edward R. and Mary Olmstead; sister Hazel Reader, mother-in-law Kathryn Dymond.

Viewing was held at Spangler Mortuary, Los Altos on December 3, 2003. A funeral mass was held at St. Williams Catholic Church, Los Altos on December 4, 2003.

AMARAL, Joseph J.,

Visitations were held on December 4, 2003 with a Vigil Service at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 El Camino Real W., Mtn. View. A mass of Christian burial was held on December 5, 2003 at St. Nicholas Church, 473 Lincoln Ave., Los Altos.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
