By With Almond School Principal Jeff Baier leading the troops, approximately 456 Almond students rose early on Wednesday morning, October 8th to walk to school for International Walk to School Day. Summoned the Los Altos High School Marching Band, students and their families gathered at the High School and two other starting points and formed a walking bus to Almond School for doughnuts, drinks and prizes before class. Mayor pro-tem Lou Becker and Police Officer Brent Butler joined in the festivities to show their support. The highlight of the morning was a 15-minute impromptu concert the band and color guard. Organized Almond PTA Committee Chair Vivien D'Andrea, the event was quite successful with over 84% of Almond students participating.
