MAGEE, Jan Walden,

Jan was born March 15, 1920 to Maurice E. and Gladys L. Salisbury in Minneapolis, MN. She served in the WARDS in Hawaii during WW II. It was there she met Milton W. Magee, who retired as a Marine Corps Lt. Colonel. They were wed April 12, 1946 and later moved to Los Altos where they owned Styler’s Furniture at Rancho Shopping Center.

They remained in Los Altos for fifty years of marriage until his death, September 28, 1997. Following a stroke in 1998, Jan lived at Grangeville Health & Rehab in Grangeville, ID to be near her only daughter.

In Los Altos, she had been a member of the Phi Psis, a social sorority and the Los Altos Monkey Doll Ladies who sew sock monkeys for hospitalized children. She was a weekly bridge player and a daily reader.

She is survived by her son, Maurice W. Magee of Bozeman, Montana; a daughter, Kim W. Chenoweth of Idaho; and two grandchildren, Angela and Adam.

At her request, there will be no service. Her ashes will join her husbands in the Pacific Ocean.

CHAKERIAN, Bennie Lou,

Bennie Lou will be buried at Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, MO. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

FINNEY, Margaret Halsey Buss,

She was born and raised in Palo Alto, CA, graduating from Cubberly High School, and then going on to Stanford University, where she graduated with a BS in Nursing and Nursing Administration in 1964.

Margaret spent her life in nursing and nursing administration, both in civilian and Army posts, retiring from the Army as a Major in the Army Reserve. She served as a Nursing Systems Analyst for the State of California.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Eugenia Buss of Palo Alto, five younger siblings; Katherine Buss, Jennifer Barron, Dr. Richard Buss, Stephen Buss and Laura Van Hook; two daughters, Mary Minard and Emma Tucker, four grandchildren; Michael, Sam, Brenda, and Scott. Her former husband, John Finney, her long-time close friend and helper was with her at the end.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2003, at The First Congregational Church, 1985 Louis Road, Palo Alto (at Embarcadero Road).

McCARTHY, Constance Grennan,

She will be deeply missed by her daughter Connie Osti, sons Robert and Ray, son-in-law Buffy Osti and daughter-in-law Patricia McCarthy. Loving grandmother of Erin, Tim, Molly, Kathleen, Adam and Eric. Survived by her sisters Claire Nash, Helen Kaiser, and the late Geraldine Lee, numerous nieces, nephews and counsins.

A funeral mass was held on Saturday, October 4, 2003, at St. Nicholas Church, Los Altos, CA. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
