Go beyond recall’s
leading candidates
Is a new precedent being set with this recall that will require all future nonpartisan elections to include the political party affiliations?
Money and parties will be ruling yet again if we let the debates of the so-called “leading” candidates narrow our choice to only the displayed five or six.
Voters can demonstrate a temporary-freedom from partisan bickering, with this nonpartisan election, by voting yes on the recall, followed by a vote for one of the other 130 candidates.
Read about the other candidates in the Official Voter Information Guide, have discussions with friends and search Web sites to fine-tune your final choice. My vote went to Heather Peters, a 37-year-old attorney, specializing in mediation.
Please see qualifications at www.Peters4Gov.com and/or OVIG, page 23.

Other candidates
in U.S. Senate race
As an announced GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate I found the article on Toni Casey in your newspaper (Sept. 24) very interesting. In spite of the fact that she knows there are three other GOP candidates in the race –two in the exploratory phase –and myself, who sat next to her and spoke at the recent Republican convention on the same podium and at the same time, she still continues to tell members of the news media that she is the only one in the race.
Toni Casey cannot hide the fact that she raised money for Bill Clinton … and was not very popular in her own area on the city council. Your newspaper may choose to print what it wants but the facts will come out in the remaining months of the primary phase of the campaign in any event. No one in any part of the state wants or needs someone in the U.S. Senate who twists the rhetoric to suit the story of the moment.

Thank You from Friends
of the Los Altos Library
Each year, the Friends of the Los Altos Library holds four book sales to raise money for the Los Altos Library. These book sales serve not only as a vital source of funding for both branches of the Los Altos Library, but they also provide an opportunity for people to purchase very reasonably priced reading materials, CDs and videos
Just last week we completed an exceptionally successful book sale. On behalf of the Fiends of the Los Altos Library, I’d like to thank the community for making this book sale so successful. Thank you to those who generously donated books, CDs and videos for the sale and thank you to those who generously made purchases.
I’d also like to give a special thank you to the Town Crier for its continued support of our book sales by providing complimentary publicity. This has helped us tremendously in raising community awareness of the sales!
Hope to see everyone again during our special annual gift book sale on November 15th. I encourage those who have not participated in the past to come by and visit us then!
Your support is a key reason why the Los Altos Library is able to continue serving the community with top-quality programs and services.

Thank you for
St. Nicholas coverage
I am writing to thank you for the excellent coverage which our school received from your newspaper on the occasion of our 50th anniversary.
Our parish is very proud of this accomplishment and the vital and positive legacy which we hope has been created by the good will of past and present faculty and staff. Our golden anniversary provides us with an opportunity to pronounce our contribution with the hope for a bright and forward-looking future.
