Organizers of the first Taste of Los Altos Village, scheduled 5-8 p.m. Sept. 14, plans to offer a tantalizing sampling of the downtown cuisine.
Twenty-six Los Altos restaurants and merchants will provide outside selections while continuing their service inside.
“This promotion is designed to get people into our restaurant and retail establishments,” said Ted Garrett, director of the Los Altos Village Association. “We want people to be aware of all the good things we have in Los Altos.”
During the evening, “Sibling Rivalry” will provide background music in the Community Plaza. Walking musicians will stroll by the Costume Bank, Maria’s Antiques, the Masonic Lodge building, Washington Mutual and the Ay Ay Ay restaurant.
On State Street, Lucky Chinese and Pepino’s will feature their ethnic specialties. Around the corner, on Plaza North, Maltby’s Restaurant will serve samples of the house specialties. Beausejour restaurant will offer mousse samples.
On lower Main Street, Nick Testa’s Italian Delicatessen promises a surprise taste treat. Across the street, the Main Street Caf/ & Books will ladle some of their homemade soups. Casa Lupe plans to serve Mexican cuisine.
On upper Main Street, i Fratelli Restaurant will offers a selection of Italian foods. Ragusa restaurant hopes to introduce new customers to their Mediterranean cuisine. Retail shops, including Marion Jackston’s, Adventure Toys & Teachers’ Supplies and Harvest Home will contribute to the celebration by pouring wines from 14 wineries in the Santa Cruz mountains.
The $20 price includes a donation to Los Altos charities. Tickets can be purchased at downtown retail stores and the Chamber of Commerce, 321 University Ave. For more information, call 949-5282.
