Lady Circuit, the nationwide 30 Minute Fitness Center, opened a new studio in Loyola Corners last week.
Kristin Gerhard, who brought the program to Sunnyvale last year, found that many of her clients were from Los Altos. She began a search for a more convenient location for the Los Altos area customers and found the empty 1,200-square-foot retail front in Loyola Corners.
Arianna Mayes, co-owner of the Loyola Corners studio, explained that Lady Circuit features PACE (Programmed Aerobic and Anaerobic Accommodating Circuit Exercise) designed specifically for women. The new facility is equipped with nine PACE exercise machines and nine aerobic floor mats.
For a complete workout, the client completes the circuit three times, alternating between 35 seconds of exercise on the hydraulic-strength machines and recovery on the aerobic mats that act as step benches. The benefits are increased muscle tone and decreased body fat.
With some skepticism, Mayes tried the circuit herself in January.
“After working out three times a week for one month, I noticed a definite increase in muscle tone and a loss of inches,” Mayes said. “You have no idea how much better you feel.”
Gerhard said the program is great for women who have never worked out before because of its simplicity and the opportunity to work at their own pace.
Amy Krasky, exercising on the No. 7 PACE machine, stepped down and started using the mat. “It’s convenient, it’s quick and the staff makes you feel comfortable,” she said.
Lady Circuit is located at 951 Fremont Ave., Los Altos. For more information, call 948-6563 or logon to www.ladycircuit.com.
