SCOTT, Arthur J.:

DeKRAKER, GLENN M.,

Glenn was an avid and tireless supporter of Stanford University academics and athletics. He was no less enthusiastic making guest presentations at Stanford’s Center for Entrepreneurial studies and serving on the Board of the Athletic Department than he was cheering the Cardinal men and women through good times and bad. Glenn and Pauline have been active supporters of the San Jose Family Shelter and the Good Tidings organization for many years. Glenn was known as a generous man and a generous friend.

Glenn is survived by his wife Pauline, and five children; his daughter Lynn DeKraker, and her son Matthew MacNown; his son David DeKraker, daughter-in-law Annette and their children Hailey and Matthew; his son Glenn DeKraker III, his wife Nancy, and their children Katie and Annie; his daughter Leighanne Champion, her husband Tom and their children Cliff, Glenn and Tommy; and his daughter Laura Lang-Ree, her husband Arne, and their children Cecilia, Madeline and Gabrielle. He also leaves a sister, Jane Krumboltz and many more extended family members and friends.

A celebration of Glenn’s remarkable life was held on May 12 at the Los Altos Methodist Church and a reception followed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Glenn’s memory may be sent to the San Jose Family Shelter, 1590 Las Plumas, San Jose, CA 95133.

MILLER, GLENN C.,

Glenn spent most of his life in Star Valley, WY on the ranch where he was born and where he raised his family. He attended elementary school in Thayne and later attended schools in Utah at Central Jr. High in Ogden and at East High in Salt Lake City. He also attended the University of Utah.

Besides ranching, Glenn was also in the oil and gas business, a machine shop instructor at the UTC in Salt Lake City and operated the Star Valley Machine Shop for many years. He was also active in the community serving on the school board and various organizations. After retirement, Glenn moved to California. During the last ten years, he spent many happy moments hiking, traveling and enjoying life with his beloved companion, Dorisanne Shewbridge.

Glenn is survived by Doris, his daughters; Annette (Lloyd) Miller Sanderson, Cheyenne; Linda (Grover) Young, Salt Lake City; Judy Miller Johnson, Cupertino, California; Laurie Miller Nelson, Logan; and Lisa Miller McDonald, Springville; eleven grandchildren and three great grand children, and a sister, Janice (Osborne) Miller Call, Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his son, George Campbell Miller II.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17 in the Thayne Wyoming Stake Center. Memorial services to follow in Los Altos.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

When members of the Los Altos Village Association first created the summer movie nights, they anticipated an event that would attract more residents downtown as a way to promote business.

What they didn’t anticipate was an influx of middle schoolers, or that parents would use the weekly Friday night affair as an opportunity to drop off their children and have someone else (in this case, the Village Association) effectively watch over them.
