Last month, owners Danny Brooke and David Stine moved A Place For Flowers from Main Street to join Debbie Jorgensen, the owner of Patt’s Greenhouse on State Street, to make one big flower shop with three owners.

“It just seemed natural for the two organizations to get together,” said Jorgensen. “Naturally, it’s an economy move for both of us, but we can also offer more items for our customers. Before, if my customer wanted cut flowers I could not provide that service.”

Stine said everything is working out great because “if our (former) customers asked for plants, we couldn’t take care of them.”

Brooke said it works for him too: “All the customers are pleased and have provided good commentary about the move. The shop is busier and it’s full of energy.”

Now that Mother’s Day is over, the combined businesses are preparing for weddings and summer parties.

“We do a lot of graduation parties and centerpieces for parties,” said Stine. “This time of year the cooler is full of boutonnieres. Graduation parties are big celebrations around here and we will have a large selection of Hawaiian leis.”

Stine said if you need to send a last-minute flower gift or just want to say hello to a loved one, they use the FTD worldwide wire service.

“We can take your flower order, and in many cases, have it delivered the same day anywhere in the world,” Stine said. “We have a large selection with arrangements for every occasion. If the flowers are not exactly what you’re looking for, we carry a large selection of plants and bouquets that are available through our service provider, FTD.”

A Place For Flowers has always made local deliveries. Since combining, the delivery service has been expanded to cover from Santa Clara to Redwood City, with a $35 minimum.

Patt’s Greenhouse has maintained an interior landscaping business, delivering plants to houses and offices.

“We will continue with this program even though on the corporate side they don’t want to see the plant lady these days,” said Jorgensen. “We will continue with the domestic program of supplying plants and flowers to individual houses.”

Jorgensen said Patt’s Greenhouse and A Place For Flowers offer the best in fresh, silk and dried floral arrangements, living floral basket arrangements and the finest selection of garden and gift items available.

The flower shop is located at 366 State St. For more information, call 941-7474 or 941-9933.
