Peek, Backs
Alex Peek and Justin Backs were married July 14 in a garden ceremony at the Monte Verde Inn in Foresthill. Deacon Carlos Astesana, godfather of the bride, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Jon and Mary Peek of Grass Valley. She graduated from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo and earned her teaching credential from the University of California at Davis. She teaches at Olive Grove Elementary School in Antelope.
The groom is the son of Dave and Marie Backs of Los Altos. He graduated from Los Altos High School and the University of California at Davis with a degree in biological science. He is employed at Oracle in Rocklin.
The wedding party was largely made up of friends from the UC Lair of the Bear Alumni Camp where the couple met. The bride was attended by her sisters Rena Peek and Eve Fichtner, Julie Angold, Katina Walsh and Jamie Garcia.
The best man was the groom’s brother, Demian Backs. The groomsmen were Paul Monaco, Darren Waddell, Brian Marcus and Trevor Anderson.
The couple live in Auburn.
Sobel, Brown
Karen Sobel and Dale Brown were married in May at the Natoma Inn, Folsom.
The bride is the daughter of Joanne and Art Sobel of Los Altos Hills. She graduated from Los Altos High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of California at Davis. She is employed as a pet training instructor.
The groom is the son of Cliff and the late Bunny Brown of Quincy. He graduated from Quincy High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of California at Davis. He is employed as a civil engineer by Stantec Consulting, Inc., Sacramento.
Following a honeymoon in Antigua, the couple now live in Sacramento.
