The Foothill College football team took the lead on the opening play of last Friday’s game at West Valley and never relinquished.

Ardell Brigg’s 88-yard kickoff return set the tone for the Owls, who went on to win 38-7.

Foothill (4-1) totaled 455 yards of offense and held West Valley to just 212. Chris Bolding, in his first start for the Owls, completed 14 of 22 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Jason Girley caught six passes for 119 yards, and Briggs ran for 76 yards on 10 carries.

Foothill has a bye this week and hosts Butte at 1 p.m., Oct. 26.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
