Quarterback Chris Bolding came off the bench to lift the Foothill College football team to a 42-7 home win over district rival De Anza last Saturday night.
The freshman took over late in the first quarter for Jeffrey Williams, who had thrown two interceptions.
Owls coach Marshall Sperbeck said Bolding “played really well,” completing 10 of 24 passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns.
A pair of local products also helped Foothill’s cause. Barry Ivers (St. Francis High) caught five passes for 124 yards and a TD; Scotty Hamilton (Los Altos High) had eight rushes for 64 yards and a score.
Ardell Briggs ran for 91 yards and Gerald Green 84.
Defensively, linebacker Joe Maningo once again led the Owls (3-1). The sophomore had 13 tackles - five behind the line of scrimmage - and made four sacks.
“He had a great game to lead our defense,” Sperbeck said.
Foothill held the Dons (1-3) to just 182 yards of offense. The Owls, meanwhile, racked up 483 yards.
Foothill plays at West Valley at 3 p.m., Friday.
